Who is Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia?

YAYASAN FOOD BANK MALAYSIA (YFBM) is a charitable organisation governed by a Board of Trustees pursuant to the Trust Deed dated 22 December 2018 registered under Section 2 of the Trustee Act 1952. The foundation will be the catalyst for the effort to reduce food waste while addressing the issue of increasing cost of living, especially the poor or the B40
We aim to rescue surplus food from the manufacturer, wholesaler, hypermarket and hotel industry; sort and re-distribute it to the identified targeted B40 communities in higher learning institution (IPT), charity home, welfare center and Program Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin (PPRT) through our strategic partners to reduce food waste and to help to ease and lessen the cost of living of the underprivileged Malaysian.

OBJECTIVE
- To coordinate, plan and carry out the collection of surplus food nationwide.
- Collaborate with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and related industrial players to create and enhance surplus food management system.
- Help the underprivileged with access to food supplies to reduce cost of living.
MISSION
- Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia targets "Zero Hunger" and "Zero Waste" through the halal and safe food supply in Malaysia.
VISION
- Become the Leader of Food Bank domestically and internationally by 2025.
HOW FOOD BANKING WORKS?

FOOD DONORS PROTECTION ACT 2020
The Food Donors Protection Act have been gazetted on 10 February 2020 which gives protection to food donors from civil liability.
PROTECTION OF FOOD DONORS
A food donor shall not be liable for any civil liability against any personal injury, or illness suffered by any person or the death of any such person resulting from consumption of food donated or distributed by food donors unless it can be proved that:

- Personal injury, illness or death caused by negligence or willful misconduct by food donors
- The food donor does not comply with any requirement in relation to food safety and hygiene under any written law before donating or distributing the food
- The food is not safe to be eaten at the time the food is donated or distributed to any person
- Donations and distribution of food are not made of good faith.
TAX EXEMPTION
Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia is Tax-Exempted under
Sub-Section 44 (6) of Income Tax Act 1967
